THEY JUST KEPT ON RUNNING.......
The London ASICS 10K, with Cruse in the running

Helen Essien reports on her day, running for Cruse
"It was an early start to get into London in time for the Asics 10K London Run 2009 on Sunday 10 July- I was on a train by 6.58am, and it seemed that everyone else on the train was headed to the same event.  With some 30,000 people taking part, it wasn't that surprising I suppose.

Team Cruse - all of them winners"I have only ever run 5k charity runs before, so I was quite daunted by the prospect of 10k.  Luckily, my friend Sophie (who ran the marathon earlier in the year) ran with me, and she encouraged me on every time I started flagging!  We finished in just over 1hr 10 minutes, which for me is certainly a new record.  Another friend, Rachel, came in at a little over an hour which is just amazing, considering she trained about twice and has never taken part in a road race before!

"Although I came away with a few new blisters, it was a really enjoyable way to earn money for charity, and we are already thinking about the London half marathon next year.  Thanks to some extremely generous friends and colleagues, I have so far raised £1,240 (including offline donations) which I am delighted with.  Thank you Cruse for the opportunity!"

Staff, friends and families - all supported Cruse in this run. Julie Caller Hunter also ran on the day and finished with a big smile. You can read how she got on in her own report.

In fact, we have a whole list of heroes who are raising funds for Cruse in this, our very special Golden Jubilee Year, and you will see them all on the special area of JustGiving. Our thanks go out to them for everything they are doing to help Cruse continue to provide support to bereaved people for the years to come.

AND THEY JUST KEPT THROWING THEMSELVES OFF TALL BUILDINGS!

Another intrepid Cruse Team took part in a sponsored abseil from Walsall Arts Centre, also in July - clearly a mad month!

Again, it was staff, volunteers, friends and their families who made the leap of faith and raised the funds.
