YOUTH SERVICES LAUNCH IN NORTHERN IRELAND

L to R: Adam Kelly (YAG) , Jill Poots (YAG), Joe Lindsay (BBC presenter), Patrick O'Hare (YAG) and Karen McMinn (Consultant)As part of Grief Relief Week, Cruse Children's and Young People's Services held a celebration event chaired by BBC presenter Joe Lindsay in Stranmillis University College in March.

This event celebrated the success of the youth bereavement support programme.

The programme provides vital training for volunteers so they can offer face to face bereavement support to children and young people throughout Northern Ireland who have lost a loved one.

The Cruse Youth Advisory Group, a group of young people aged 13 - 25 and established in 2006 in Northern Ireland,  offers support and advice to parents and carers. To this end the group has produced a DVD called "Ask the Experts", created as part of a partnership project with Marie Curie, NI Hospice and Barnardos.

Also launched at this event was a major evaluation report on Cruse Bereavement Care's Children and Young People's programme showing that in the last year (2007/8) Cruse was able to provide 1-1 support to 126% more children and young people than in 2006/07.

Copies of the DVD, "Ask the Experts" can be obtained by contacting our store.
